ytgify: YouTube to GIF Converter Chrome Extension - No Watermark
ytgify is a YouTube to GIF converter Chrome extension with no watermark. It lets you clip a moment from a YouTube video, choose the GIF duration, adjust FPS and resolution, add optional text, and export a clean GIF directly from the YouTube player.
It's a free GIF maker Chrome extension that keeps the workflow on the video page. No copy-pasting into another site, no downloader-to-editor chain, no watermark added on export.

Before making the extension, clipping GIFs off of YouTube was a slow and painful process, involving multiple apps to download the YouTube video, bring it into an editor, clip it, export as a GIF, etc. Now it's a breeze. I used Claude Code to generate the SVG logo and create video storyboards with Playwright for the demo walkthrough.
How to Convert a YouTube Video to a GIF
The short version: install the extension, open a YouTube video, choose the moment, tune the export settings, and generate the GIF. I split the detailed guides by intent so they do not all repeat the same thing:
- YouTube to GIF converter for no-watermark GIFs explains the no-watermark use case and when clean output matters.
- YouTube GIF Maker Chrome Extension focuses on installation, browser workflow, and why the extension approach is faster.
- Convert a YouTube Clip to GIF walks through clipping decisions, export settings, and troubleshooting.
Shared this out and was happy to see others liked it too - the extension got solid traction on Reddit (r/SideProject, r/ClaudeAI) before launch.
Within the first week of sharing it out, we have over 1500 users!
